Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. What about multiple office sites?

A. One of the modules available for the Windows version is a multi-practice database. This enables multiply owned clinics to have separate databases for input capabilities. It is also useful for billing companies that have separate clients.

Q. Licensing

A. The software is assigned to one entity or practice which could have multiple practices within the scope of its operation. With the multiple database option, you could have, as explained above, several sites under one license. Cost is based on the number of users networked. (See below)

Q. Can the inconvenience of daily updates (batch processing) requirements be minimized with your system?

A. Yes, CompuMedic was designed to eliminate this common restriction which is prevalent in many system today. All transactions in our systems update the data base the moment they are entered. This eliminates any end-of-day/end-of month regimen as well as protects the database from power failures.

Q. What if I need more than one type of insurance form in my practice?

A. Multiple insurance formats are available. If any of these do not meet your requirements, there is a forms generator which allows for specific formation of health care forms to meet your requirements.

Q. Am I restricted to any particular type of statement and is it necessary to obtain these from you to use the system?

A. No! The system can produce any type of statement format you desire. Of course we have, for your convenience, preformatted statements as well as the popular mailers. However, you may choose to use the same type of statement you are now using or completely redesign a new one. And with a laser printer, you can print your statements on blank paper on a variety of formats with background design also.

Q. Can it handle copay transactions?

A. Copays can be handled with only a couple of keystrokes. The charge and its payment (if there is one) will be posted at the same time.

Q. What about Optometric applications?

A. This option allows the entry of patient optometric data (eye measurements, lens and frame data). This data can then be printed and formatted to appear on Genral Documents and insurance forms.

Q.What about formatting forms and superbills if I do not like the default you have?

A. All forms as well as the formatting of superbills or charge tickets are handled by GUI (graphical user interface) through Windows. This means you can drag and drop as well as assign fields for placement of information such as names, addresses, referring doctors, CPT and ICD-9 codes to name a few.

Q. I usually send out reminder notices of appointments. Does the system do this?

A. Yes, reminder post cards and labels may now be formatted and printed based upon scheduled appointments.

Q. Will it keep up with more than one billing rate?

A. Our Windows version has the ability to place unlimited code rate per insurance company per patient, thus giving you complete managed care capabilities in comparing rates, reimbursements and other factors to any managed care contract you may have.

Q. Can I transmit my Medicare Claims without paying a surcharge to go through a clearing house?

A. Yes, CompuMedic comes with the capability to transmit to your Medicare/Medicaid carrier. In different states, the capability varies due to the carrier. In Texas and many other states, you may transmit through a clearing house free of charge. In addition, many commercial carriers allow transmissions through this medium free of charge. For information see our electronic claims capabilities in various states.

Q. What modules are particularly advantageous?

A. The AutoPost module enables you to download a file from your Medicare carrier and let the system AutoPost it to the patients accounts. This is particularly advantageous if you have an average or large Medicare practice. The system will automatically post all payments, assign responsibility so that either the next claim can be filed, or the patient will receive a statement. It can save an average of 2-4 hours of posting per EOMB (Explanation Of Medicare Benefits)...and do it accurately!

Also, if you are needing separate databases, such as a billing agency or separate clinics, then the data base module is for you. It allows one license to run multiple entities.

Q. What Windows platforms will it operate on?

A. CompuMedic will run on any Windows format including 95, 98 and N.T. Also, we now can operate on a server/terminal enterprise. Not only can you network on a peer-to-peer, Windows98 or NT, but you can also run dumb terminals operating off a WindowsNT server without having to have full computers at every terminal.

Q.What are the various modules available and how are they added?

A. CompuMedic comes with one main system. Modules include The Scheduler, Electronic Claims, Multiple Database, and Medicare Autopost
