Review our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for more information regarding CompuMedic and its applications.
- CompuMedic provides doctors and related health professionals with a methodical approach to data base management, billing and practice evaluation.
- The system is designed to be self-contained: all data specific to the practice may be defined by the user. This includes procedures, charges, diagnoses, payment types, late charge schemes, etc. Statements, delinquent notices, recall notices and insurance forms may be formatted to the user. The Report Generator allows user designed reports as well as exporting to other programs.
- Payments, adjustments and credits may be posted in one of two ways, individually to the patient account or via an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) screen. EOB payments posting allows for automatic posting of adjustments amounts not billable to the patient. Further capabilities include autopost from downloaded files from Medicare which will post all automatically without having to individually do so.
- All transactions (charges, payments, adjustments and credits) may be listed daily, i.e. the Day Sheet or or for any series of days. In addition, a Batch Reporting facility provides a complete audit trail by recording all new transactions as well as changes and deletions of transactions.
- Statements may be printed at any time. The system will automatically print statements for those patients having a balance due, or, if desired, for any patient having any activity during the month. Various styles of statements are available including plain paper with a laser printer format printing background, columns, etc.
- Insurance forms may be printed as often as desired. Insurance entries are Updated during printing, indicating that these entries have been billed to the insurance company. Re-billing specific charges may easily be accomplished. Forms formatting can also be done.
- All entries are considered "open item" meaning they can be restricted for change or leave open to be changed in the past, depending on the policy of the office.
- Snapshots - Spreadsheet-like summaries of pertinent practice data along with colorful 3-d pie charts, bar graphs of selected Snapshot data
- Portfolios-Groupings of common reports/snapshots that can be run at one time.
- Basic Inventory - Reduces quantity-in-stock automatically as charges are posted.
- Correspondence Log - Provides a history of correspondence to the patient. This includes Superbills, Recall, Delinquent and General Documents, Workers Comp and Data Entry forms.
- On-line Manual- The Users Manual is available on-screen.
- On-line Step-by-Step Guide - How to do it step by step guide on screen.
- Included with CompuMedic is the capability to perform electronic claims processing through direct link to Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross without incurring fees per claim. Optionally, you may elect to route your claims through any of several cleaning houses for a fee per claim charge.
- Off-Line Data Entry...now you can work off line...meaning you can, for instance have a computer at another location and enter data from that location with periodic downloads to the main system. Rather than tie up phone lines or use expensive T1 or dedicated lines, you can dial up the main system when necessary and have the system download all data that has been entered remotely. If you have, for instance a satellite office and see patients there, you can just dial in to the main office system and download all data entered since the last download. Of course you could stay connect directly, but that would entail more expense with long distance charges. This way, you get the best of two worlds.
- Revise fees...If you ever found the need to change your fee schedule, you'll love the new Revise Fees feature. This command, will allow you to increase or decrease the fees within a given Fee Schedule by a percentage, and move fees from one fee schedule to another with or without a change in the fee amount.
- While You Were Out messages can be brought down directly into CompuMedic. Now you can create a tickler with check boxes such as: Phoned, Returned Your Call, Please Call Back, etc. and you can transfer the tickler to any operator on the system, so it's available to them.
MANAGED CARE APPLICATIONS
Performance of managed care companies need to be monitored and checked to insure accuracy of payment versus agreed contract. This is an essential criteria if an office is to remain competitive within the medical arena. It is not enough just to apply predetermined payments from PPO's, HMO's, and other managed care companies. Those paymentsMUST be compared to specifics of the contract the provider makes with each insurance company in order to be assured each managed care/insurance company is paying according to contract.
CompuMedic for Windows does just that. With the added capabilities of Windows, you can now track each payment from each insurance company against a particular fee schedule...and you can do that with every insurance company on record. To be alerted to an underpayment is the essence of good business practice.
Managed care capabilities also enable the ability to negotiate contracts based on hard facts accumulated in a special way with the system. If an insurance PPO says it will pay you, for instance, $525.00 per pneumonia case, how can you be sure just what income is being realized at the present. CompuMedic for Windows is an illness based diagnosis system. By applying charges and income to illnesses, one can better determine if the provider is going to be in a better position aligning him or herself to such companies.
